Purpose
The Discipline of Early Childhood Education has the primary purpose of providing a well-rounded education that equips graduates with the required disciplinary knowledge, educational theory and methodology. This knowledge will enable students to demonstrate competence and responsibility as academically and professionally qualified Early Childhood Education and Foundation Phase teachers.
Undergraduate programme
In 2019, the discipline implemented the Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching. The last cohort of students in the Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Development and Foundation phase qualification exited in 2022
Postgraduate Supervision
The staff supervise students who have interest in research at Honours, Masters’ and PhD students who have interest in early childhood research. At this level, students may register with any discipline that is relevant to their research focus.
